The first details of Dyson’s electric car have emerged with the publication of patents and a memo from the company’s billionaire founder which call on staff to keep the automotive plans secret.
Sir James Dyson said plans were on track for a launch in 2021 for a car “entirely designed by Dyson, manufactured by Dyson, and sold by Dyson”.
The car would contain “fundamentally new technologies and make some inventive leaps” Sir James told staff, meaning it was vital that they “protect it with patents”.
Advances will come in the aerodynamics, efficiency and vehicle architecture – how the car is laid out – Sir James said.
He admitted that drawings in the patents “certainly don’t reveal what our vehicle…
